{mosimage} Here is some information about me, Suzanne Oommen I live with my husband and two children in Toronto, Canada and have been a full time painter since 2002. This website has been set up as a kind of on-line gallery to showcase my paintings. You can click on the gallery link above to see them. Influences There are so many, mostly subliminal, like Amar Chitra Katha comics. These are some contemporary artists I can think of who I can cite as influential. The smeared paint expressionist works of Gerhard Richter , who I have recently heard called the worst living painter in the world, is one. I love the expressionist figure painting in the works of Cecily Brown. she's quite a brilliant painter. M.F. Hussain, of course, India's Picasso and my uncle, George Oommen. I like to paint pictures of people best and work quite hard on trying to make splotches of paint resemble the human body. I've been a lot more successful selling my abstract works which resemble nothing so much as blobs of paint and sometimes accidentally take on the appearance of reflections of city streets. I like to think that I am merely facilitating fortuitous paint smears. This takes a lot of practice. Although I grew up in a small town in India, I am most comfortable in big bustling noisy places like Bombay. Toronto is quieter but feels like home now. And what else do you want to know?...um...I\'m a Capricorn.
